TU Dresden / ZIH Zellescher Weg 12-14 Willers-Bau Raum A119 01069 Dresden, Germany
The focus is on programming models MPI and OpenMP. Hands-on sessions (in C, Fortran, and Python) will allow users to immediately test and understand the basic constructs of the Message Passing Interface (MPI) and the shared memory directives of OpenMP (in C and Fortran). The Thursday is dedicated to tools. This course provides scientific training in Computational Science, and in addition, the scientific exchange of the participants among themselves. It is organized by ZIH in cooperation with HLRS.
Interaction contacts between PhD students, scientists and students are so important that we are happy to announce that this course
is back in the room - and together with its two social events, a city tour and dinner (Monday) and a visit to the famous Semper opera: "Dornröschen" (ballet by Tschaikowsky, on Thursday).
Tutors will be Dr. R. Rabenseifner from HLRS Stuttgart (parallel programming) and Dr. H. Brunst, Dr. H. Mix and B. Wesarg from ZIH/TU Dresden (Tools).
The first 3 days will be an introduction to parallel programming with MPI and OpenMP. On day 4 you will learn how to use tools to optimize your code
or to find problem areas in parallel code.
Day 5 is dedicated to intermediate and advanced features designed for today's High Performance Computing (HPC). Hands-on labs will take place on our HPC cluster at TU Dresden.
Entry level: The course is primarily intended for beginners in parallel programming.
Content level: 75% beginners/intermediate, 25% advanced.
Early bird registration deadline: Jan 15, 2024, because then we have to finally buy student tickets for the Semper opera:
only 10€/ticket for fantastic 15 seats!!! (requires student card or written PhD student letter from your institute)
The TU guest house "Gaestehaus am Weberplatz" still has enough rooms avaialble.
When registering, please mention that you are attending a course at the TU Dresden.
