Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), the Consortium for Small-scale Modeling (COSMO) and the Climate Limited-area Modelling (CLM) Community kindly invite you to the Numerical Model Training Course. The aim of the course is to familiarize new users with the nonhydrostatic numerical weather prediction modelling framework ICON.

The Numerical odel Training Course takes place at the DWD Headquarters in Offenbach, Germany. It starts on Monday 10 June, 13 CEST, and ends on Friday 14 June, 12 CEST.

Contents of Training

For the Numerical Model Training 2024, we offer three parallel courses:

  • 'NWP for National Meteorological Services' is specifically tailored to participants working at national meteorological services which plan to use ICON-LAM for numerical weather prediction.
  • 'NWP for Academia' is targeted at researchers from universities research institutions using ICON in their work on numerical weather prediction time scales.
  • 'CLM - Climate limited-area mode' is for researchers using ICON in limited-area mode for climate simulations.

The course is directed towards experienced scientists. The theoretical part of the training is common for all three courses. However, the respective practical exercises focus on different topics.

Accommodation

Participants are kindly requested to make their own hotel accommodation bookings. Hotels located close to DWD Headquarters are the following:

Important note: We have received feedback that the booking situation for hotels in the greater Frankfurt area is very tight due to various trade fairs in the period in question, thus we recommend early reservation of the hotel rooms!
