With the ESM partition of the JUWELS cluster and booster modules, JSC provides HPC resources dedicated for Earth System Modelling (ESM). The aim of this partition is to enable frontier simulations in this field of crucial societal relevance as well as the initialization, tuning, and coupling of various models and submodels in preparation for upcoming exascale ESM applications. This course provides an overview of current developments at JSC related to the JUWELS system and gives users from the Helmholtz ESM project (https://www.esm-project.net/) and from the PilotLab ExaESM (https://www.exaesm.de) the opportunity to discuss their specific issues and challenges. To prepare for the upcoming exascale system, this year's focus will be on code stability and exascale workflows.

The course is specifically tailored to the interests and needs of the ESM community.
